Kias Leather is a family company established in the 1980s in Yogyakarta. Kias Leather grew as the first exporter of leather goods in Yogyakarta in the 90s to many countries such as Netherland, Germany, Sweden, and Japan. Today, Kias Leather remains one of the traditional leather manufacturers in Yogyakarta. Most Kias Leather products are currently exported to several countries, especially Japan and some to the Netherlands, Sweden, and The UK, and a few leather bags to Korea, and The United States. Kias Leather has some expert in-house leather craftsmen who have more than 25 years of experience. Kias Leather bags are mostly using vegetable-tanned leather from the Javanese cowhide. These cowhides are tanned with natural tree bark tannins. The vegetable extracts from the tree barks used during the tanning process maintain the original features of the leather. This vegetable-tanned leather makes the identity of our bags. That’s what makes each bag unique, it has an individual grain pattern. Cow vegetable-tanned leather presents unique, recognizable, and natural characteristics. Sunlight and use over time will cause the natural leather to darken in shade, called a patina. Some parts of bags might have natural leather defects which are common in vegetable-tanned leather. We also have variation of natural & crochet bags and home & living products. Started in mid 2023, we are expanding our business into a coffee beans industry.
